Julie’s Pigmentation Top Picks

Ever since the great hormonal rollercoaster of pregnancy and menopause decided to manifest itself as a persistent Picasso on my neck, I’ve been on a quest. A quest to find a product that could shoo away those stubborn pigmentation patches. While the pigmentation had the decency to disappear post-pregnancy, it clearly enjoyed its new home post-menopause, and decided to squat forever.

We have some of the most advanced medical grade cosmeceuticals on the planet in our store, but everything I had tried (so far) barely scraped the surface so to speak. I would apply products specific to pigmentation reduction, religiously, twice a day, hoping for just a slight fading, maybe just enough to keep me from being mistaken for a Dalmatian. I would peer into the mirror every morning, hopeful yet sceptical, chanting, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s got the blotchiest neck of all?” And the mirror, bless its honesty, would always whisper back, “It’s you, my dear.” That is definitely not to say the products I’ve used in the past won’t work for you, I know they will, as I have seen results on others, just not me, so of course this added to my exasperation with my neck tenant.

Okay,  time to try something else, again!. Toskani Radiance Mesoserum I have to say, is gold in a bottle, (must be why there is some gold on the packaging!) After just three to four weeks, I started seeing a difference, and although my pigmentation is still there, refusing to accept the eviction notice, it has softened, mellowed, and not quite so much a pain in the… neck.

This product  has not only reduced the appearance of my pigmentation but has also restored my faith in the power of pigment targeted skincare. It’s like finding out that unicorns are real, and they can live in your bathroom cabinet.

So if you’re battling the stubborn post-menopausal pigmentation blues, give this little miracle worker a try.”

Pip Product Review

Pip’s Pigmentation Top Picks

“Okay, so I have struggled with Melasma since my kids were born. I’ve always had freckles, but the blotchy marks across my cheekbones became darker and more splodge like after kids – thanks hormones! I wasn’t overly stressed at the time as I know it’s normal, but my kids are growing like weeds and the melasma is getting darker… arg! Rather than just try to lighten it, I also want to inhibit it’s further production… so I’ve been trying a few different serums over the past year.

Toskani Radiance Ultimate Mesoeserum is a beautiful serum that provides SO MANY ingredients to fight pigmentation as well as your daily vitamin B & C. It’s quite a thin serum with a light floral fragrance and I really am impressed with this brand. I’ve been pairing it with their new Toskani Night Reverse advanced serum, which smells simply divine and I honestly just LOVE applying it before bedtime. I’ve said before I’m not a huge fan of dropper-bottles, which for me is it’s ONLY downfall, and that’s just personal preference. I feel like I waste product trying to apply it as I’m not co-ordinated, my hands don’t always work well. I really do suggest you give these a go though, as these are simply divine products and contain SO MANY great ingredients. Rolling your many ‘essential’ serums into only a few.

More recently I’ve started using PCAskin Pigment Gel Pro to see how this brand feels. It’s more expensive, so I’ve stayed clear before, but it contains an abundance of ingredients that tackle both your pigmentation as well as stopping more forming. What I like is the thick gel which really glides over my skin and is much easier to apply than dropper bottles (for me). As well as your pigment busting ingredients it contains Vitamin B and Hyaluronic Acid. The only downside is still needing a vitamin C serum, but I really do love Aspect Dr Active C so it’s not such a big downfall LOL.

Lastly I’ve also Aspect Dr Complete Pigment Plus with age support a whirl. It’s thin serum that glides on easily but I’m just not as big a fan of the smell. It’s easier to apply than the dropper-bottles but doesn’t have the luxe feel of PCAskin. The plus side is it’s great formulation, containing your daily vitamin B & C as well as powerful pigmentation busters and inhibitors.

All these products have been good to use, and they’re actually all great formulations. I’m torn between the Toskani dropper bottles that are reasonably priced and the luxe feel of PCAskin. I haven’t chosen an ongoing winner yet, but I think the beautiful scent of Toskani might win-out! It simply makes me feel happy to use!

We do have another relatively new product that I haven’t tried but might well next, and that’s ZO Skin Health Brightalive. This brand is BIG on results, and while I find their ‘ethos’ of skincare being quite harsh, they are likely going to have an amazing serum. Overall I find Osmosis’s more holistic ‘internal vs external’ ethos more in keeping with my thoughts, but when it comes to wanting results fast, ZO certainly pushes hard.”
