Meg’s Medik8 Product Review
“My review this week is the Medik8 Daily Refresh Balancing Toner.
I’ve never used a toner before and it is not something that I often recommend to clients unless they have oily or acne prone skin. However, when our Medik8 representative came down to train us all on the Medik8 range, she had a lot of great things to say about this toner, and made me promise that I would try it.
I have to admit, working another product into my routine did not really appeal to me, but for the purpose of the review, and based on her high praise of the toner, I decided to commit to using it each day. My first impression was that it was a slight hassle to use, as I was tipping it into a cotton ball and then wiping it on my face, but after a few days I was used to doing it and it is super quick and easy. Here is my run down:
What is the Daily Refresh Balancing Toner for?
It is to rebalance and hydrate your skin. It’s pH balancing (great for acne or those who are new to medical grade skincare), it’s alcohol-free (so no drying out the skin) and it soothes and comforts skin while removing excess oil and impurities.
What is in it and what do these ingredients do?
Allantoin – Able to support the natural skin barrier, Allantoin soothes and moisturises skin; leaving it supple and healthy.
Witch Hazel – A natural astringent, Witch Hazel gently tightens and firms the skin; leaving it lifted and smooth.
Niacinamide – Otherwise known as Vitamin B3, this soothing anti-inflammatory quickly reduces redness and irritation to care for skin.
Aloe Vera – A natural anti-inflammatory, Aloe Vera has been used for generations to soothe and heal the skin, leaving it calm and protected.
Prebiotics – Maintaining skin balance through enhancing good bacteria and limiting the bad, prebiotics promote a healthy, balanced complexion.
Who can use it?
Absolutely anyone! This would be a perfect toner for those who have oily skin that is prone to breakouts, as well as those who are looking for pore refinement or hydration. Also excellent to repair barrier function for those who have an impaired barrier, such as after abrasive treatments, or use of incorrect products.
How to use it?
Just pour a little on to a cotton pad and wipe across the face and neck after cleansing.
Is it worth it?
I am definitely going to continue using it. I like the way my skin feels afterwards, such as the tightness. Also I feel that because I have enlarged pores that they are getting an extra clean out without the dry feeling. So yeah! It’s a goer for me :)”

Julie’s Medik8 Product Review
“So excited to try our new Medik8 products! I’m an avid fan of A’s and like to use the strongest possible I can get my hands on. I went with the ultimate in the Medik8 range, Crystal Retinal 10. I’ve been using this for about three weeks now and absolutely love the creamy consistency and aroma of Vanilla and Tonka Bean, and the pretty peachy colour!
As for results, it’s really hard to tell in such a short amount of time. Previously I had been using Osmosis MD Renew but the Crystal Retinal 10 is certainly maintaining results.
Someone said to me the other day I looked ‘well’, and when you’re 103, I akin that to being told ‘you’re looking goooood’ when you’re in your 30’s, so I was pretty chuffed with ‘well’.
Also chuffed because I’m actually exhausted and feel like I look a bit dull and racoonish at the minute. With my daughter and three year old grandson visiting from the UK, the household has been turned upside down and inside out, literally…
I think the garden has walked inside.
It’s funny when you visit your Mum, I know I do the same thing, even at my age. You just expect them to look after you and do everything for you, ‘cause that’s what they’re supposed to do. But when you are use to tranquillity, a simple routine and plenty of ‘me’ time, it’s somehow different. Even though you adore having them home and wish they could stay, you miss those quiet, relaxing, pop a face mask on times. But my daughter is a fantastic Mum and a beautiful human, and my grandson is just adorable. Even more so with his little British accent. They actually have to stay at least another two weeks due to a delay in the issue of a work visa, so YAY?? Yes, of course yay! I will be devastated when they leave.
Still, I diligently stick to my skin care routine. Combining the Crystal Retinal 10 with my usual C serum at night but am keen to try one of the Medik8 C’s very soon, and so many other of the Medik8 products for that matter. I am nearly out of my eye serum, so sorry Meg I’m adding Medik8 CSA Philosophy Kit – Eye Edition to my staff account, soonish 🙂”

Phillipa’s Medik8 Product Review
“It just so happened that the day I was choosing my Medik8 products to try I had run out of cleanser. So, why not try theirs! I actually couldn’t decide so I took home two options. The first was the Surface Radiance Cleanse and then the Micellar Mouse as something a bit different.
Medik8 Surface Radiance Cleanse
I’ll start with the Surface Radiance Cleanse. It is listed as their best selling cleanser, so it seemed a good choice. It’s a blend of AHA/BHA complex so it offers a gentle exfoliation and cleansing of pores. It also contains antioxidants to help strengthen the skins barrier functions. It’s actually listed as free from; synthetic colours, artificial fragrances, parabens, phthalates, alcohol and cruelty as well as being vegan friendly. This brand appears to go the extra mile trying to be eco-conscious. Even their packaging is considered, using recycled materials wherever possible.
So, what is it like to use? Wonderful! I absolutely loved it. It is a clear gel that lathers into a citrus smelling lather. The first time I used it I added a typical dollop onto my hands and ended up scrubbing my decolletage also as I had so much. Since then, I’ve tried to see how little I need. Even the smallest dot on my hand will still lather up beautifully and feel wonderful on my face.
What I really love though is the mix of the gentle lather that then ends in silky smooth skin. The AHA/BHA complex really dissolves the dead skin cells and leaves me with squeaky clean skin! I really can’t say enough about this cleanser and completely understand why it’s their best seller. Considering how little you need, and how inexpensive it is to try, I recommend you all adding one, even just the 40ml travel size to have a go. I don’t think you’ll regret it! Plus the packaging is so simple and clean, no frills. Perfect for both men and women alike.
Medik8 Micellar Mousse
Next up I tried the Micellar Mousse. I’ll start by saying, this was really something different for me. I haven’t used a foaming facial cleanser before. It actually feels really light on the skin. And by light, I mean really light-as-air. Like I should be adding more, because it sits so softly (duh, it is foam after all). The next thing that struck me was it’s meant to be washed off. My knowledge of Micellar Water is that it’s joy is in not having to do more than wipe it on/off. Thus making it an ideal pre-cleanser or makeup removal. They actually suggest the opposite. Being a Micellar Mousse it spreads easily over your skin, but you then wash it off without using cotton pads to wipe like you do the Micellar Water.
My take on this is, if you’re skin struggles with being scrubbed, then you’re going to love Medik8’s range of foaming cleansers. Yes, the Micellar Mousse was awesome at taking my makeup off. I didn’t scrub or wipe like it said, but washed it off. Simple. My face felt clean but not tight or dry from being over-cleansed. It wasn’t the hassle free pre-cleanser though that a Micellar Water is, so for that purpose it’s not quite a replacement. The Micellar properties still give that “makeup-be-gone” feeling, and it’s a very nice product to use. I also really love that Medik8 brings most of it’s cleansers out in different sizes. This makes them perfect for your gym or travel bag.
What’s my overall opinion for my Medik8 Product Review?
So, what’s my take on my first Medik8 products to try? I’m absolutely hooked on Surface Radiance and I think that the foaming cleanser feel of the Micellar Mousse is spot on for gentle cleansing. They actually have four different foaming cleanser options for; normal cleansing/makeup removal, sensitive cleansing/makeup removal, red inflamed skin, oily/acne prone skin. So, I think they’re really ensuring that those of you whom avoid their fav’ AHA/BHA Cleanser due to skin issues, or want to balance it with something light, are able to find the suitable gentle option that’s right for your skin balance. Note, they even have a creamy cleanser for your daily cleanse and makeup removal… I remember having trouble deciding what to try when i picked out these two. I might need to try the others just to better feel the differences.”
