Meg’s Jane Iredale Product Review

Product Review Meg

The day we received our Jane Iredale products was a great day!!  It was all soooo pretty!! My mum and I set it all up, and then spent the afternoon trying it all out.

I’ve always used a pressed powder, so started using Jane Iredale Pressed Base in Autumn, which I love – it lasts all day, and looks fresh and glowy.

BUT – the other night I was heading out with some friends and decided to try the Liquid Foundation. Now, I never use a liquid foundation.  I’ve never liked the feel of it on my skin and it always seems to come off and ends up looking patchy. Plus I like a sheer, barely there look.  But, I wanted to review the Jane Iredale liquid so I gave it a whirl!

What I love about this one (other than the packaging – check out all the groovy little balls!!) is that it doesn’t really feel like a foundation.  When you rub it in, it almost feels like it turns to a powder. I’m quite tanned, so I used the Caramel colour and it was a perfect match. It made my skin look amazing.  Great coverage, but not thick. It glows, looks dewey and you know what else? It stayed on all night and I got a lot of lovely comments on how my skin looked!

Julie’s Jane Iredale Product Review

Product Review Julie

I’m sure my husband thinks I’m bound for the morgue if I’m not wearing concealer and a blush, he would constantly ask me if I’m feeling alright. So when Meg suggested we could review anything from our fabulous new Jane Iredale range, I thought I would review both. I am genetically blessed with wonderful dark rings under my eyes, my dear departed Dad’s side of the family are descendants of the Raccoon. It seems to me, to balance my face, and avoid looking like I’m auditioning for a part in ‘The Walking Dead’, I need a rosy shading on my cheeks and an abundance of concealer, to minimize the upside down smokey eye look I have going on.

I have been using the same blush and concealer forever, it’s funny how you stick with the same products year after year, especially makeup, you think because they have worked so well in the past, there won’t be anything to replace them (or maybe that’s just me). But I’ve come to realise there’s always an alternative, and the science and ethics behind skincare and cosmetics are continuously evolving to support not only our skin, but the environment too.

I have to say, since I began working here at The Skin Care Clinic, I’ve been introduced to a great skin care regime. It’s devised by my lovely colleagues and my skin has improved so much. My husband actually doesn’t ask me if I’m alright anymore… umm… hang on…

But I digress, back to Jane and her blush and concealer. I chose the Disappear concealer in ‘light’ (the lighter the better for me). It comes in quite a large tube in comparison to my current concealer, a nice bonus. It has a slanted applicator tip, but I found that way too much product came out when I squeezed it, enough for under three eyes, so if you have that affliction, it’s a winner. A bit of practice with the right pressure for the correct amount is required. It has a lovely consistency and didn’t gather in the small creases as the day went on, as some often do. I remember, when working in a reception position, going on a break, looking in the mirror and thinking, oh fantastic, miniature snail trails in shade neutral, have I looked like this all morning?!

The thing is, I chose a concealer out of the range that is more for acne prone skin, so disguising spots etc., it didn’t quite work for me, a bit too translucent, I should have, of course, gone with the under eye concealer (do ya think!? I hear you say.) Next time I will read the manual before choosing.

I’m certain it would be perfect for what it’s designed to do, or for those of you who only need minimal concealing under eyes.

Now for the blush. I chose the In Touch Cream Blush in the shade ‘connection’ a pretty peachy pink hue. Having always used a powder blush, I thought I’d try something different. I love the container, like a big fat lipstick, you wind up and down. Easy to apply, great colour and a pearly shimmer that I think I can get away with at my age. It gives you a nice dewy glow. I used it on my lips as well, though I always wonder if that’s hygienic, I’ll have to ask Meg that one, but loved the subtle effect it gave. So this product gets a big tick from me. Thanks Jane, like your work!

Christine’s Jane Iredale Product Review

Product Review Dr Christine

“I have been trying our new Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Lipstick. Wow! But before I begin you need to know that I typically wear a stain which lasts all day. At first I was disappointed that the colour did not last past lunch but then realised that this is normal for non-staining lippy, just needed to touch up after eating – no big deal.  What I was not prepared for was how soft and smooth my lips felt. The colour is slightly translucent, with a matte finish. It applies easily and I am very impressed with the way it has hydrated my lips.

This lipstick is something that I can recommend for any one wanting luscious lips. This lipstick was a winner at the Natural Beauty Awards 2019 under Nature and Health. It is presented in a beautiful rose gold bullet tube with magnetic closure.”

Megan’s Jane Iredale Product Review

Product Review Meagan

“I’m a hard woman to please when it comes to lipsticks. I’ve been wearing the same one for over 8 years now, so I was a little reluctant to even try a new one. To be honest, the reason I tried this one was because I know Megan Markle loves them, and I well, love her haha!

Even though I have dry skin, including dry lips at the moment due to pregnancy, I still prefer a Matte lipstick. I like the stained finish look and always apply as normal and blot off between tissues (the old fashioned way) I can then eat and drink and not have to worry about it rubbing off etc.

Being blonde and fair skin, I wear lipstick every day as I feel like it gives me the brightness and colour pop I need for freshness, so it’s important it’s long lasting.

When applying, my first thought was that I loved the colour, cool toned red/coral. It felt velvety, but I did notice it made my lips feel dry and cracked after blotting a bit off. I added lip balm (not gloss) on top, and this made a huge difference, I was left with the longevity of a matte lipstick, but it didn’t feel dry and cracked and had a smooth finish. I’m very conscious of this, as dry lips are extremely ageing.

I had lunch with my girlfriend and it stayed on the entire time! I would happily add this to my other collection (of one) 😊 I’d also love to try it after pregnancy when my skin and lips return to their normal texture.”

Pip’s Jane Iredale Product Review

Product Review Phillipa

“I’m not a big makeup person, and when I wear it (being a mum, it’s either a really good or really bad day) I like it to feel natural as though it’s not there – subtly enhancing my features.

Having young kids means I don’t have much time for me in the morning and I want my foundation to have SPF included. With this in mind I chose the Jane Iredale BB Cream with SPF 25. This is a full coverage foundation, which is much fuller than I’m used to – I normally wear a light CC cream. So you can imagine how surprised I was to see my freckles and rosy cheeks dissapear! After the inital shock I decided to add mascara and lipstick (Jane Iredale Gabby Lipstick of course – the colours in this range are soooo natural) to put colour back in my face, as I’m not used to looking so pale.

The end result was great, I was really happy with how it felt on and how easy it was to apply. I really didn’t feel like I was wearing a lot of makeup, the colour (BB3) blended well and it looked natural.

Unfortunately, this ended up being one of those bad days with the kids. A simple trip to the grandparents ended up in a marathon of tasks to complete. The post office was particularly hectic. My 4 year old wanted to explore and my 1 year old wanted to touch and eat everything. When it came to the supermarket, their tantrums were astronomical – lets just say it was chaos.

When I made it home I was an exhausted, rumpled mess. Once I’d tidied up my hair (and removed the cheese thanks to my youngest) I was suprised to see my makeup had actually survived the day unscathed! My foundation was still looking fresh and while I’d re-applied my lippy after lunch, it was still looking good too.

I’m thinking this fuller coverage might not be such a bad thing… and trying to fit less into my day!!!

That evening I was relieved to try the Magic Mit Makeup Remover. After a long, exhausting day I really didn’t have the energy for much. This mit was both easy to use and very effective. It didn’t leave the same refreshed feeling that my cleanser does. But it wasn’t as much effort and would be great when I stay at mum’s overnight with the kids. If you’re into low fuss and love your makeup, then I’d recommend having one of these handy!”
